Composition Book Cover
Designed By Karen Bulmahn
Create a unique composition book cover design for
school or any occasion. Using a tone on
tone background pattern with clear embossing powder can add interest without
being overbearing to the design as a whole.
Directions:
- Stamp mathematic
symbols on cream cardstock using clear embossing ink. Heat emboss with
opalescent powder. Trim cardstock to match the size and shape of the
composition book cover, then edge the piece with dark teal ink. Adhere to the
cover.
- Cut a wide wave shape
from the circle print paper to cover the book at the binding edge. Ink the
edges with dark teal ink, then glue in place.
- Cut a 2” strip from
light blue green cardstock and a 2 ½” strip from orange cardstock. Ink the
edges with dark teal ink, then center the strips and glue together. Tie the
green and cream ribbons around the left side and adhere the whole piece to the
book ¾” from the top. Trim the ends of the ribbon with pinking shears.
- To create the subject
title, stamp the letters on cream cardstock with light teal ink. Immediately
apply opalescent embossing powder and heat emboss for a shiny surface on the
letters. Cut each letter out to shape and adhere to the strip with 3-D dots.
- Punch the left edge of
a library card using the binding edge punch. Trim the bottom of the card off
with pinking shears and ink the edges of the card with dark teal ink. Tie
pieces of light bue sheer ribbon onto the binding edge of the card, then adhere
the card to the front of the book as shown.
- Cut a large circle from
orange cardstock and another from the circle print paper, the orange one being
a bit larger. Edge both with the dark teal ink and adhere to the bottom right
corner of the cover. Trim off the excess and ink around edges of book with dark
teal ink.
-
Punch out 4 green
circles from the circle print paper. Using light teal ink and the numbers set,
stamp the year on the punched circles. Edge each one with dark teal ink and
adhere to the bottom area of the book with 3-D dots.
